Of late, especially after Google’s Penguin update in April 2012 that destroyed a number of SEO businesses, there has been a craze amongst a large section of people to look for cheap SEO services. The reason that emerged after speaking to some of my potential clients seems to be in the lines of, “I am looking for a cheap provider because I want to limit the risk of money that I shall lose by investing in the service”. While we have always offered affordable SEO services, there is a slightly different tune to the above statement.
So here is the single line I would want you to pay attention to: cheap SEO services are not necessarily affordable.
Why so? If the investment for the service is little and you have the money, why does it still remain unaffordable?
Think about it a little more and the answer will emerge as an obvious one. Any SEO consultancy services organization worth its salt will first focus on getting your site ranked. As we all know, one well-ranked site for even a decent keyword, forgetting competitive ones, will make you the invested money back in a matter of a couple of months.
However, if a “cheap” service leaves you with a “cheap” ranking with you showing up nowhere in the top ten Google search results, then your entire investment will have gone down the drain. Do it a few times and your cheap SEO services providers will have burnt you out of money.
That’s the last thing you would want. It is way better to hire a professional SEO service company that is affordable, and pay small but reasonable amounts to get a ranking. Unreasonable cheapness does not work; reasonable affordability on the other hand is the very best thing to invest into.
So what about the out-of-the-pocket investment?
The upfront investment does not need to be high. You could invest monthly for ongoing work. You could look for SEO consultant services with a good reputation for ranking your sites when they provide you with a guarantee. This will really limit your risks – because, limiting risks is not about paying less, it is about also making back quickly what you paid for.
The “services SEO” market, as some call it, has thus remained limited for a group of people who are just focusing on cheapness by cutting investments. That way, they are getting burned out of their money fast and yet in absence of ranks are not able to make the money back. And these people have been crying foul, making it appear to the world that SEO is dead.
SEO is alive and kicking, as always. The cheap SEO services that provide temporary ranking boosts are dead. The really good affordable SEO consultant services today, after Google Penguin, will focus on delivering ranks within affordable but reasonable budgets. SEO is no longer bits-and-pieces any more, but has emerged as a wholesome story after the update.
